The destruction of viruses with Ozone gas
Memento to the “Calvary” of the carwash that promised to destroy the coronavirus

People almost immediately accept the fact that the known disinfectants (alcohols, aldehydes, chlorine or peroxide compounds, etc.) are able to destroy most of the known and unknown pathogens (bacteria, viruses). In Hungary, people know little about the Ozone gas and yet, it raises questions and doubts among most of the people and in internet communities.
However, it has been known for a long time that the Ozone gas is a significant contribution to the fight against pathogens. Not long ago, an article was published that explained the effectiveness of Ozone against the coronavirus. It is important to know, that Ozone is up to three thousand times more effective disinfectant than chlorine! When the gas makes contact with any microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, mold, odor sources or other dissolved oxidizable minerals, it simply destroys them or oxidizes them in the form of precipitation. This oxidation process is so effective, that the microorganisms can’t build up immunity against it, unlike in the case of traditional chemicals.
In the current pandemic situation, everyone is looking for a way to fight the pathogens and to protect their loved ones. The Ozone gas is an invaluable help in destroying aerial and surface pathogens.
Due to the toxic properties of the Ozone gas (similarly to other disinfectant gases), no living being can be present in the target area during the treatment of rooms, cars or other closed spaces. However, the target area can be occupied 30 minutes after the treatment, depending on how easy it is to ventilate the given space. According to our own measurement results, vehicles can be completely ventilated in just 5 minutes and ready to occupy after a treatment.
Not long after the appearance of the coronavirus in China, researchers started examining the effects of Ozone on the virus. The results were summarized by the Thailand medical, in their article published on 2020. February 5.
Another article in the topic also deserves special attention. The article was published on the China.org.cn website on 2020.02.26., with the approval of the Chinese government, and it calls the Ozone gas the “gift of God to save mankind”.
In his study, Zhou Muzhi, a professor at Tokyo Keizai University, thoroughly explains the effects of Ozone gas on the now-emerging COVID-19. As he explains, the Ozone already proved its worth against the SARS virus that appeared in 2002. Professor Li Zelin lead experiments in the Chinese laboratory called P3, where they proved that the Ozone gas is able to destroy the SARS virus inoculated into green monkey kidney cells, achieving a total destruction rate of 99,22%.
The virus originated from Wuhan and the SARS virus are both part of the coronavirus tribe. According to the studies, the genome sequences of the new coronavirus is 80% similar to the SARS virus, therefore it may be reasonable to predict that the Ozone will be just as effective in killing the COVID-19 and in preventing the further spread of the virus.

Let’s see what it means in terms of a closed space. We believe that the Ozone gas can effectively disinfect the cabin of a car in a very short time. With our device, we are able to measure the Ozone concentration of the air in the car. According to most of the studies, the concentration of Ozone used for disinfection is between 0,5-2,5 ppm (parts per million).
Based on the sources above, we calculated that a 1-hour long Ozone treatment above 18 ppm concentration is able to achieve serious results. Naturally, using different ozone generators, we can raise the concentration to even 80-100 ppm and we can extend the treatment time to even 4 hours.
To create this concentration, we used an ozone generator that is capable to generate 7000 mg Ozone per hour. The device needed only 10 minutes to reach the appropriate concentration (18 ppm), which we kept up for 1 hour.
After the treatment, we ventilated the car and our measurement device showed 0 ppm Ozone concentration after 3 minutes of ventilation.
If this Ozone concentration was able to neutralize most of the virus pathogens under laboratory conditions, it is safe to predict that we (as well as the carwash in Vecsés) managed to destroy the virus in our car and the chance of infection has been drastically reduced.
